Alexandria Byrd was born and raised in the beautiful city of Greenville, SC. She attended Lander University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. Alex, developed a passion with working for children when she interned with a nonprofit in the Greenwood area. During this time, she was located in the center of a community where she had the pleasure to serve the children and their families. As an extension of her internship, she was given the opportunity and assignment to conduct and interpret a needs assessment for the residents of that community. She presented her findings and worked with many agencies to address the many barriers to employment and proper education within the community. After a number of years working part-time with CIS of Greenville, Alex is excited to step into the full-time lead student support specialist role, and to be a part of the incredible team at Grove Elementary. She loves creating and maintaining lasting relationships with her students and their families. These relationships help to shape them for the future. She believes that with the right amount of passion and love, we can shape our children into becoming the best human beings that they can be!
